The difference between healthy and unhealthy love

The speaker, Katie Hood, works for the organization One Love. The people who started it lost their daughter, she was in an abusive relationship and eventually she was killed by her partner.

Katie talks about the signs of unhealthy/ abusive love. We all experience it in our lifetime, both as a recipient and as giver. And it doesn’t just happen in romantic relationships. It can happen in friendships, family relations or with co-workers.

Katie wants to educate people of toxic love. It is hard to notice when a relationship turns unhealthy or when it shifts into abuse. She informs of signs that are very common in unhealthy love. For eg. Isolation, jealousy, belittling och extreme intensity. The main goal is to improve our ability to love better.

Katie uses informative animations, she keeps it short and clean and above all, she gives examples that are relatable to get her message across.

This is a topic that relates to everybody. Love is a major part of our lives and you can feel it or “be in it” in so many different ways. Therefore, a TED-talk like this one is great. It’s informative and easy to follow.
